Galapagos George Footnotes Learning Guide

Based on the true story of "Lonesome George," this show tells the tale of a truly one-on-a-kind tortoise from the Galapagos Islands. Who is George? He is a tortoise, a GIANT GALAPAGOS TORTOISE! Watch George grow up among sea turtles, lizards, hungry goats, sea lions, and dancing birds with blue feet. As you visit his island, you hear the true story of the last tortoise to be found on Pinta Island in the Galapagos archipelago. Fall in love with these islands...and this not-so-little tortoise!

Described by The Smithsonian as "an uplifting eco-fable," this engaging theatrical piece shares an important lesson about man's impact upon the environment. This show was funded in part by a grant from the Puppeteers of America Endowment Fund and was awarded an UNIMA Citation of Excellence in 2005.

Space & Technical Requirements: Clear, performing area that is 15 feet wide, 15 feet deep and has a ceiling clearance of at least 8 feet. We provide wireless mic and professional sound or can work through your house system. This show is best performed in a dark room due to the use of shadow puppets.
