I’m pretty excited about something. It’s The Naked Puppet Exhibit developed by the Fettig Project and premiering at The National Puppetry Festival in exactly four weeks.
Wow.
No, I really mean it — WOW!
There will be puppets and puppet mechanisms in the display that you can TOUCH, hold, manipulate, fondle, photograph, or whatever. As a puppeteer, I know that being able to physically interact with puppet mechanisms will be an amazing educational experience.
The Fettig Project was a crazy idea that I came up with in 2013 at The National Puppetry Conference in Waterford, Connecticut. (It’s an amazing experience — I’ll write about it later). The group is a comprised of puppet builders dedicated to NOT reinventing the wheel but to an open-source model of sharing information so we can all build better performances.
An online gallery is in the works. Visit www.thefettigproject.com for more information.
